Founded as "Gimcheon Business Junior College" by the Shincheon Board of directors.

1998
Name changed to "Gimcheon College".

2000
Selected as "The Best College of Health Science(A+)" by the MOE & HRD and the Korean Council For College Education.

2001
Designated as a "Business Incubation Supporting Institution" by the Small & Medium Business Administration.
Selected as an "Operator" in the Total Information System Project for the Small & Medium Business by the Small & Medium Business Administration.
Designated as an "e-Korea Education Institution" by the MIC.
Selected as an "Outstanding College for developing the specialization of Food science Division" in the 2001 national project by the MOE & HRD and the Korean Council For College Education.

2002
Designated as a "Technology Business Incubator Supporting Institution" by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy.
Selected as an "Excellent Technology Supporting Institution" at the Inno-Tech Show by the Small and Medium Business Administration.

2003
Kang, Seong-ae took office as the Third President.
Selected as a "Venture Foundation Training Institution" and as an operator in "Experience Study for 'Small & Medium Business" by the Small and Medium Business Administration
The Indigenous Food Development Center was certified ISO 9000 by AJA Registrars.
The Health Division was ISO 9001 certified in Education Quality Administration and Education Service.

2004
Selected as a "Small and Medium Business Technology Supporting Institution" 5years in a row by the Small and Medium Business Administration.
Selected as "The Best Department of Hotel & Tourism Management(A+)" by the MOE & HRD.
Selected as "The Best Group in percentage of employment"(national ranking- 2nd).

2005
Selected for consortium of "Industry-College Cooperation" by the Small and Medium Business Administration.
Selected for "Financial Supporting Projects For Universities" 8 years in a row by the MOE & HRD

2006
Designated as an "Excellent College" at the National Local Innovation Show
Designated for "School-Industry Supporting Projects" by the MOE & HRD
